Ferragamo History
Salvatore Ferragamo was born in 1898 in Bonito. He always dreamed about being a shoe maker, at 9 years old he made his first shoe for his sister. He later then emigrated to America and opened up a repair shoe shop in Santa Barbra, California. At the same time he was designing and making shoes for cinema. Ferragamo then moved to Florence, Italy in 1927 to create a factory where he trained 75 apprentices. Ferragamo had to over come the stock market crash of 1929 and this made him file for bankruptcy. This wouldn’t stop him, in 1938 he bounced back and established the company Salvatore Ferragamo S.p.A. The rest is history and Ferragamo is still known for its well made leather goods, and designs.
